Can your altenator and battery going out cause you to blow a fuse?

My radio and dome light went out on my '04 ford escape at the same time as the other things. coincidence or do they go tgther? Also when turn the key all the gauges shoot all the way up then back down, never happened before this. Jw if anyone could help me and is it cheap to fix
