Can any breed of Dog become a Guard Dog?

I personally prefer to own male dogs because they can't get pregnant and won't bleed all over my house, but I honestly don't think gender makes much of a difference when choosing a dog to use for protection. What I think matters more is individual temperament, training, and the bond you've formed with your animal. The more attached to you they are, the more protective they'll be.
