What program is this?

It was from a few years ago, when I was young. It was about a world similar to pokemon, but with robots (not digimon). I'm fairly certain the beginning was a the main robot being built, but I'm not sure. The main character was an engineer working in a lab, and the robots helped them. The cartoon was in manga. I think there was a film, too, but all I remember of that was a dome... Help? It's SO annoying
